Jeff Kinneyis the author of the best-selling book series，Diary of a Wimpy Kid． With 10 separate titles to date，the series tells the story of a“middle schoo1 weakling(懦弱者)”named Greg Heffley as he figures out how to navigate his way throughadolescence．

First publishedin 2007，the serieshas since earned two Children's Choice Book Awards and five Nickelodeon Kid’schoice Awards．Kinney wasnamed one of TIME magazine’s most influential people in 2009．There are currently more than 2 million copies of the series in printand Kinney's books have been on the New York Times bestseller list for morethan 400 weeks in total．

Kinneyreleased Diary of a Wimpy Kid ：Old School，the 10th book in the series， on November 3．In the book，Greg and his family decide to ditchmodern technology，but Greg has ahard time going screen-free．“This is my 10th book．”Kinney said，“I figured it was a good  timeto go back to basics．Come back to the start．Greg is starting his first day of middle school in this book．

Kinney wasborn in 1971．As a studentat the University of Maryland，Kinney became  interested indrawing cartoons and ran a comic strip(连载漫画)in the campus newspaper．“I  always wanted to be anewspaper cartoonist，”said Kinney．“It became obvious to me that I wasn’t good enoughto break into newspapers．Then I finally came up with this idea where I  started drawing as a kid．I was pretending I was a kid in mycartoons and that’s how I cameup with the idea for Greg Heffley and Diaryof a Wimpy Kid．”

Though Kinneymade the transition from comics to books，all of his books include illustrations he draws in a newspaper comic style．

For hiscontinued efforts to teach kids a lifelong love of books and reading，Jeff Kinney is a nominee(提名)for TFK’s 2015 Person of the Year．
