Jeff Kinneyis the author of the best-selling book series，Diary of a Wimpy Kid． With 10 separate titles to date，the series tells the story of a“middle schoo1 weakling(懦弱者)”named Greg Heffley as he figures out how to navigate his way throughadolescence．

Kinney wasborn in 1971．As a studentat the University of Maryland，Kinney became  interested indrawing cartoons and ran a comic strip(连载漫画)in the campus newspaper．“I  always wanted to be anewspaper cartoonist，”said Kinney．“It became obvious to me that I wasn’t good enoughto break into newspapers．Then I finally came up with this idea where I  started drawing as a kid．I was pretending I was a kid in mycartoons and that’s how I cameup with the idea for Greg Heffley and Diaryof a Wimpy Kid．”

Though Kinneymade the transition from comics to books，all of his books include illustrations he draws in a newspaper comic style．
